This has to do with the tactics that are being invoked by both Democrats and Republicans alike. Wherever side anyone stands on in the primaries and the election in the United States, it should be of concern to all peoples that there is a blatant disregard of the election process. Both sides are freely employing non-governmental agencies, the Democratic National Convention and the Republican National Convention or Committee, to change the will of the voters to that which the party elite prefer and desire.
This has to do with freedom and honesty. It also has to do with those in government, or non-governmental agencies, in this case, following one of the Ten Commandments which says, “Thou shalt not steal.”
It is of concern that people of faith, regardless of denomination, are “okay” with both the Democrat side and the Republican side stooping to the level of stealing and ignoring the will of the people in the desire for the party or their candidate to win. That smacks of dictatorships, of times past in history when one or a few at the top decided what the results would be for a nation. That kind of dictatorial leadership has never ended well. Those kinds of things have ended badly, with millions being killed who did not agree with the Party line.
You may say, well, this is western civilization. That can never happen here. Really? Are you sure? Do you bet your life on it? Because if you side with a society and tactics that thinks it is okay to break the Ten Commandments and things will turn out all right, the fact is, that kind of thinking is in direction opposition to the Word of God. The Bible says, “I set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, choose life, that you may live, you and your seed.” (Deuteronomy 30:19) The implications are that if we choose that which is “not life”, and choosing against the Ten Commandments is “not life” in God’s eyes, then we are choosing cursing for ourselves and for our children.
If those at the top are willing to break the commandment, “Thou shalt not steal,” what makes you think that once they are in power, that they will not break the commandment, “Thou shalt do no murder”?
It is noteworthy that Americans now believe their children will have a worse life than they do. This is the result of choosing the curse, choosing to break God’s laws as a society.
No matter where we stand on Presidential candidates, we should all call for ethics and morality and the will of the people, not that of a few power-brokers and moneyed powers in and outside of Washington D.C., to be the ones who choose the next President. If not, then we, the church, will have been guilty of helping to transform a nation under God with representation of the people, by the people, and for the people, into a dictatorship.
