There are currently discussions on a number of topics. Here are two. Transgenderism and abortion.
There are now “levels” of discussion. For example, are sexual discussions with students permitted after third grade?
Is abortion defined as being during the first trimester, any time during pregnancy, or after birth?
The fact that there are discussions about the degree to which deplorable and evil practices should be permitted, shows how far the United States has fallen.
The United States was started by Christians, on Christian principles, espousing Christian virtues. As such, there were covenants made with the Lord.
Those covenants have been broken.
That put the United States, as a nation, under the “curse” clauses in the Old Testament. You can read the blessings and curses by clicking here. The curse clauses start with verse 15, and are re-interated in verse 45 which might seem more applicable at this point.
Is there time for redemption? God knows.
At the time of Jonah, Ninevah was given a window of repentance, which they took, and allowed them additional time before they were destroyed. Dates vary, but 150 years is reasonable based on varying dates.
After the Israelis left Egypt, God let the whole generation die out, with the exception of Joshua and Caleb, because of his displeasure with the nation’s overall unbelief and disobedience. Actually, prior to that, in Exodus 32:10, the Lord was ready to wipe them out and Moses convinced him (interceded) otherwise.
At the time of Noah, Noah was 100 years building an ark to save his family and animals from extinction. The rest of humanity didn’t believe in the need for repentance and salvation, and was wiped out in the ensuing flood.
When it came to Sodom and Gomorrah, God came down himself to see if the prayers that had gone up to Him were as bad as those praying were saying. They were, and Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed.
So having discussions about the degree of sin or inquity that is acceptable as a form of legislation in the United States misses the point completely. You can’t legislate against the laws of God and expect blessings. There is not a degree of acceptable legislation for sin, whether that sin is abortion, transgenderism, pedophilia, bribery, theft (think Federal Reserve)(2020 election manipulations), murder (think toxic jabs) or any other sin or inquity. Like breaking the law of gravity, it brings the nation under consequences. We see those consequences rising all around us.
The United States has legislated against the laws of God for many years and is now experiencing the curse, as a nation.
Is there an opportunity for repentance? Sometimes the Lord simply lets a rebellious, sinful, and iniquitous people be wiped out. Read the Old Testament. There may be individuals who may be blessed, as Joshua and Caleb were, but for the United States over all, only God knows.
