Obama’s Santorum Strategy

We have four candidates vying for the Republican nomination:  Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Rick Santorum, and Mitt Romney.

Which one DOESN’T Barak Obama want to debate?

The answer is easy:  Newt Gingrich.

In a debate without, or even with, a teleprompter, Obama will end up (metaphorically) flat on his back.  There is no possibility he can win a debate against Newt Gingrich.

Knowing that, the strategy of the Obama camp has been to have someone other than Newt Gingrich.

Now Ron Paul is not really an issue.  Most conservatives, even if they like his positions otherwise, disagree on his foreign policy.  And all Obama has to do is to say that Ron Paul is shrinking government and all the government goodies will go away, and that ends things for Ron Paul.

Mitt Romney is not really a problem.  George Soros says that Mitt Romney and Obama are not that much different.  So all Obama has to say is that Romney had health care like Obama, so why go to Romney, why not keep giving Obama a chance.  Since there is not that much difference, why switch horses midstream?

Santorum is another easy win for Obama.  Many of Obama’s supporters receive government aid.  Others have government jobs, some of those  jobs being positions that qualify those that receive the aid.  So there are two layers of government dependency going on.  And, a lot of that dependency is caused because of the  lack of a strong family unit.  It is a case where having a weak family unit is the reason for the government support, the family is not functioning economically to take care of the children.

So, the strategy to bring up a topic (contraception) that brings the issue of the family to the forefront seems to be working.  It’s causing all those that are concerned (rightly) about their First Amendment Rights to look to Santorum, who is a strong advocate for the family.

However, issues of contraception when half the country is on welfare, due to having families that need to be cared for, might not be a winning ticket for the Republicans.

So methinks that Obama’s camp has been pretty smart in terms of maneuvering the Republican candidates.  They have had the media bring out issues in a timely manner to divert attention away from questions of the economy, jobs, and health care, to contraception and families, which has caused a push for Santorum.  But he can’t win.  He will not win against Obama.

So, if the Republicans are smart, they will recognize they’ve been had and begin to look to Newt Gingrich to be the candidate.  He is the only candidate with real solutions and a proven track record in Washington, D. C.

This is not just about a President, it is about a President who can bring together both Republicans and Democrats to get something done.

Newt Gingrich’s plan for $2.50/gallon gas is something that will bring both sides of the aisle together.  A “jobs and paycheck” President Gingrich is superior to a “food stamps and welfare” Obama.

Newt Gingrich can present himself and his plans in a way that draws people together.  None of the other candidates have that ability to that degree.

If Republicans are smart, they will push for Newt Gingrich.
