The Valley of Decision

“Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.”  Joel 3:14

I personally believe that the Republicans are making an enormous mistake that may cost them this election.

If you listen to conservative commentators, you get the sense that none of them really think this is a “slam dunk” election where it is guaranteed that Obama will lose.   With as terrible a record as this administration has had, you might ask why?    Why is it that everyone is so uncertain of the future outcome?  Why is it that with such a poor track record there is no sense of surety and security that victory is sewn up for the Republicans?  What is missing?

I believe that what is missing is the element of courage because the Republicans are not willing to fight the real battle.  They want to fight for an election, they don’t want to fight for truth.  They want to fight for an election, they don’t want to fight against socialism and communism.  They want to fight for an election, they don’t want to fight Sharia law.  They want to fight for an election, they don’t want to deal with the politically unpopular and politically incorrect issue of Barack Obama’s birth certificate.  They want to fight for an election, they don’t want to fight for the survival of western civilization.

Sometimes in the course of human events there is a defining moment.  That moment can exist for an individual.  It can exist for an organization or company.  It can exist for a nation.

Those defining moments place individuals, companies, or nations on pathways that  lead either to victory or defeat.  You might say that one of the defining moments in WWII was D-Day.  One of the defining moments in the Revolutionary War was Valley Forge.  Another was the crossing of the Delaware.

There exist certain moments in time, where the correct choice must be made for a future outcome.

I believe the Republican Party is at that moment in time.  They are in the valley of decision.

They would prefer to withdraw from controversy, and just deal with an election.  They don’t want to be too radical, too provocative.  They just want to win the election.

However, we are at a moment in history, that like it or not, the Republicans may not be able to avoid the choice before them.  I believe they are called to deal with more difficult decisions than just running ads for an election.  They must deal with the illegality of the person in office.  We have a much more serious situation than Watergate, but it is being ignored.

The price of refusal to do something that destiny puts in your face, that you are called to do, is failure.  People know who can, who should, and who does not.

Republicans are in a valley of decision.  If they do not work to remove Barack Obama through legal means, they may lose the election, for if destiny calls them to deal with the harder issues, destiny may not back them up in lesser choices.
