A Poem
I came home from work, as I do work a full time job in addition to running this blog, and was reading a few things and came across a site that was the basis for this poem.
As I was reading various comments, this poem started to form in my mind. I believe it does describe an attitude that does exist in some circles at this point in history.
Lull Us To Sleep
Put us to sleep,
Put us to sleep,
Tell us it’s not that bad.
Put us to sleep,
Put us to sleep,
Please, it can’t be that bad.
We don’t want to know,
The real foe,
We don’t want to see the truth.
It’s more than we can bear,
We want things to be fair,
We don’t really want to be,
That aware.
The truth is too much,
We don’t want to see,
It’s overwhelming,
Keep us out of misery.
Entertain us every night,
Don’t amplify the fight,
Make it easy,
Make it nice.
Just put us to sleep, please,
Let us dwell in our ease,
And not worry about these,
Threats to Freedom.
Let us go to our rest,
And leave the mess,
To those who follow.
But as for us,
Let us rest,
Please let us rest,
Put us to sleep.
Please,
I want to dwell at ease.
Please,
Please,
Please.
