A Moral Crisis

The current delay in dealing with the severe issues facing the United States of America is first and foremost a moral crisis.  We have lost our moorings as to what this nation was originally founded upon.

It was founded upon “unalienable rights, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”.   I supported Newt Gingrich in part because he is a historian and as he pointed out in a speech, the “pursuit of happiness” in that time and culture meant the pursuit of “wisdom and virtue”.  I wrote about this topic before in this post The Pursuit of Happiness.

Understanding and going back to what the Founding Fathers meant when they wrote the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution would simplify things.  These are not documents that change with time.  The intent of these documents was what the Founding Fathers intended at the time of their creation and that can be found by a study of their lives and various other writings.

The majority of the Founding Fathers were Christians, all believed in God.  This meant they believed in the moral code of the Bible.  They believed in honor, in character.  They were not hedonists.  The type of things going on today would have been abhorrent to them…giving intelligence to the enemy, sending guns to drug cartels, indebting future generations, murdering babies, lying to Congress…none of these things that go on today followed the moral code of the Bible in which these men firmly believed.

That is why there is such difficulty in getting anything done.  If there is no clarity as to what law man should live by, then what would stop people in government from murdering, lying, stealing, cheating, cutting personally profitable deals…for aren’t all men given liberty so shouldn’t government officials have the liberty to do what they want?   Ahh, but there is the rub…and this is why we need our historians who can teach us the original meaning of words and phrases…liberty for what?  for evil?…no, liberty for “wisdom and virtue”.  That clarifies and helps define how we should proceed.

It is not virtuous to give out national secrets and endanger our alllies and nation.  It is not virtuous to give guns to drug cartels to be used in the murder of Americans and Mexicans.  It is not virtuous to ignore the murder of a Border Patrol Agent.  It is not virtuous to ignore murders of American soldiers by those within the country serving the forces of jihad.  It is not virtuous to ignore the stealth encroachment of Islam into the United States.  It is not virtuous to murder babies.  It is not virtuous to financially enslave generations and to steal their futures.  The list could go on.

If there is no ultimate moral law, then society must give equal rights to murderers and saviours, to thieves and saints, to anarchists and law abiding citizens, to the lazy and slothful as well as to the industrious.

For if there is no right and wrong, and no moral law, then all are equal, and all must be treated the same.

There is, though, an inconsistent logic in that liberal secular thinking.  The same liberal thinking that would say give equal rights to all also believes in evolution rather than creation.  In a pure evolutionary scenario, the lazy and slothful would die from the unwillingness to work while the industrious would live.  So liberal logic has to be inconsistent to hold both points of view…the law of the jungle and an evolutionary view would understand that it is more likely that the hard working and industrious would be the last ones standing in a pure evolutionary situation.  So there would be no lazy and slothful to give equal rights to because they would have died off from their own unwillingness to work.

Going back to the moral law, when there is no understanding that the law of God, as put forth in the Old and New Testament, was heavily relied upon in the foundation of this country, then there is no understanding of the foundation  upon which the Founding Fathers made their judgments and upon which we should make ours.

Over the centuries, there have been wars to advance the freedom of man, freedom to live, freedom to think, freedom to invent, freedom to work, freedom to learn and be educated, freedom to live in a healthy society where all work and receive the rewards of their labors, freedom to speak, freedom to be secure in one’s person and property.  Now we live in a nation where our rulers are giving away for free those freedoms that multitudes of men, Americans, but also others throughout history, have died for, and fought wars for…in the name of freedom being better than dictatorships.

If this were WWII, would the United  States be giving intelligence leaks to Hitler instead of fighting against him?  It would seem so watching what is going on in Washington, D.C.

Therefore, we must question the character and intent of our so-called leaders, for it seems to be diametrically opposed to all this country has fought and bled for…and if this is true, is it not treason?  Our not our leaders required to uphold the Constitution?  Or do so many in Congress and the Executive Branch and the Judicial Branch think that that is unnecessary?

If that is true, why are they in positions of leadership?  Are they there to serve a foreign enemy?  Are they trojan horses?  Why do we have “leaders” who do not believe in the Constitution and if there be some who do, why are the ones who do powerless to remove those who are treasonous?  What about the military?  Are they not required to uphold the Constitution?  Or are they riddled as well with too many who are serving other masters?  Cannot the military clean house?

Who is on the Lord’s side?  Who is on the side of the law?  Who is on the side of the Constitution?  Are there enough to save this nation or has it been taken over in a trojan horse coup d’etat?

We are in a moral crisis and how we react to the crisis will determine if the United States continues or if, as some have called it, this “experiment in liberty” ends.

There have to be enough who care, who act, who have the authority to remove treasonous elements from government.  Those who do, know who they are, and must do their jobs.  Primarily, it is Congress.  Perhaps it is also the military.

We are watching, we are waiting.  You were voted to your offices to do a job.  Please do it.  Our country will not last unless the David Contingency rises up and succeeds in this battle.
